MTV Awards & John Kerry’s Daughters
Posted by Michael on August 30th, 2004 filed in PoliticsI didn’t watch the MTV Awards last night. There’s not much about that event that appeals to me. With MTV solidly behind John Kerry, I expected a lot of Bush bashing.
Imagine my surprise when I read on Drudge last night that when John Kerry’s daughters got up on stage to ask people to vote for their father, they were boo’d.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to ’shhhhhh’ her peers to no avail.
Huh. I misunderestimated our nation’s youth. They can and do think for themselves.

I’m glad they were boo’d. That is a completely inappropriate venue to start up with the politics. It is a music award show, not the DNC. The pic on Drudge is priceless. She is actually trying to hush the crowd from booing - - hope those two learned a lesson. They aren’t the Hilton girls and need to stay out of the limelight and they certainly aren’t the Bush twins who would never go out begging for votes at a music video show. C’mon Camp Kerry get it together already!

Lots of bizarre stuff today; maybe I’ll get a chance to post about some of it. I think Tom Daschle’s reelection advertisement showing him hugging George Bush is just bizarre.

I saw a clip of it and died laughing. Obviously I was ressurected much to the dismay of some but yeah.. it was funny.

rachel, I didn’t hear much of Daschle’s ad today. Amazing how fast it dropped off the news.
Bro - NO SHARDIES HERE.

the bush twins were at the awards show begging for votes and were booed more than the kerry daughters

I saw the video clip; I think Drudge made more of a deal out of it than it was. I think people were actually booing the pandering for votes at an award show. People were there for music and the fancy clothes, not politics.

What has happened to our culture? Absolutely no reason to be so rude to these ladies who were making an appearance. I don’t know why anyone would want to watch MTV lately. It’s very poor Music Television and so is half of the crap they play on the radio. Awards for MTV is a joke! To the Kerry sisters “I’m sorry you were treated like that and to the people who were so vocal that night, someone (the Bush camp) probably hired you to do that.

I agreed with all of that, Lou, until the “someone probably hired” comment. That’s paranoia. In my experience, many people will happily be rude for free.

I think that it was completely out of line for them to do that at an award show, But then agin what do you expect from democrats??? I am in the process of getting ready for a debate taking place in my world history class. I am the leader of the bush campagine. I dont like what I have read so far about Kerry , but there is alot of crap on bush! Does anyone have anything they cna send me? If so my e- mail is scorpio_Playmate18@yahoo.com.
