Put On a Happy Face
Posted by Michael on February 15th, 2006 filed in NewsI don’t think it’s any surprise that Republicans are happier than Democrats, what with the “angry left” vitriol I read in the news. What is surprising to me that Republicans have been happier than Democrats by such a wide margin every year since the Pew Research Center started polling in 1972.
Also no surprise: conservatives are happier than liberals and that frequent church-goers are happier than those that go monthly or never. People in good health or with money are happier. Better educated people are happier. People who live in the sun belt are happier than those that live in snowy places. Single parents with minor children are unhappy.
What is a surprise to me is that pets, children, and retirement make no difference in happiness. Older people are happier than younger people. Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks.
