Question On Sin

Posted on February 17, 2006. Filed under: Faith | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Ok, two newsletters in the last two days are prompting me to ask a question. I know there are some very knowledgeable Christians here, even an occasional pastor, that can answer this question. I’ve always been taught that part of growing closer to God is acknowledging that I am a sinner. And by golly, hard [...]

Kenya Mission, Day 2 & 3

Posted on February 17, 2006. Filed under: Faith, Stories | Tags: , , , , , , |

December 28, 2005 We arrived in London at Heathrow Airport after the overnight, overseas flight, about as refreshed as, well, people that had been on an overnight, overseas flight. Simple little trip over to Gatwick; our flight to Nairobi doesn’t leave until tomorrow so we have an afternoon here. I learned something about London. It [...]

No Longer Googling

Posted on February 16, 2006. Filed under: Politics, Technical | Tags: , |

No longer googling. From Google’s leftist leanings (98% of their contributions go to Democrats) to their support of Chinese censorship, I need a new search engine. I’ve switched to A9.com. It’s owned by Amazon.com, you can earn credit on Amazon stuff, and it’s easier to type.

Why Does Iran Want Nukes?

Posted on February 16, 2006. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , |

So they can nuke someone. Duh. Here’s the latest fatwah out of Iran: The spiritual leaders of the ultra-conservatives [in Iran] have accepted the use of nuclear weapons as lawful in the eyes of the shari’a. Mohsen Gharavian, a disciple of [Ayatollah] Mesbah Yazdi [who is Iranian President Ahmadinejad's spiritual mentor], has spoken for the [...]

Presbyterian Church Membership Losses

Posted on February 16, 2006. Filed under: Faith | Tags: , , , , , |

The Presbyterian Church USA has lost over 2 million members since 1967. They project to lose another 85,000 members this year, accelerating the loss from 65,000 last year. Why? Albert Mohler suggests it is because of the embrace of theological liberalism. As these researchers demonstrated, the embrace of what they called “lay liberalism” led massive [...]

Kenya Mission, Day 1

Posted on February 16, 2006. Filed under: Faith, Stories | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

December 27, 2005 I’ve been remiss in my blogging duties; oddly, I actually crossed “blog about Kenya” off my todo list accidentally, and it wasn’t until a friend email yesterday that I realized I had not written about this trip. Let me preface this whole adventure by saying that I thank God for the opportunity [...]

Mainstream Media Sour Grapes

Posted on February 16, 2006. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , |

Amazing. The mainstream media criticized Dick Cheney for not releasing information on this weekend’s shooting fast enough (even though it appears quick enough to me), then criticized him when the news was released to a local Texas newspaper instead of the gaggle of Washington reporters. Now they’re critical of him because he chose to release [...]

Put On a Happy Face

Posted on February 15, 2006. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , |

I don’t think it’s any surprise that Republicans are happier than Democrats, what with the “angry left” vitriol I read in the news. What is surprising to me that Republicans have been happier than Democrats by such a wide margin every year since the Pew Research Center started polling in 1972. Also no surprise: conservatives [...]
