It’s a good thing people like Obama are pointing out that I haven’t been reading my Bible [properly]. Here I was going to continue to devote my life to the study, application, and deeper knowledge of scripture - when all along all I had to do was be a liberal democrat to really “get it”. If only Jesus had been aware of these facts, He could have avoided that whole pesky sermon on the mount and given us the Gospel according to Obama - God’s greatest and most relevant prophet!
“Blessed are the defense departments, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are the liberal politics, for theirs is the kingdom forever.”
Thanks for the video, I needed a laugh.

Greg, that was a hoot.
I don’t think I’ll be taking any bible reading lessons from liberals anytime soon. Half the time, they try to pretend they’re religious. The other half, they’re trying to squelch religion.

But Michael, if you don’t take your Bible lessons from them you won’t ever understand the book of Clinton: where the meaning of “is” is one of the greatest mysteries of God.
August 27th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Ah, the infamous “is.” I call it the “Great Schism of Ism.”
How about “shalt?” Does the liberal handbook include interpretations of “thous shall” and “thous shalt not?”

I think they define it somewhere in Deuteronomy or Leviticus, but as Obama tactfully pointed out, I never read those.
I guess Reformers like me need to add a sixth sola “Sola Obama”, any part of the Bible not relating to the 2008 election must be interpreted by Obama alone.

I know I’m no biblical scholar or anything but I don’t understand how what Obama said was taken “out of context.”
I see the point he was trying to make, perhaps it wasn’t the best way to make it but the Bible does indeed have slavery and people being stoned to death; practices which are considered heinous by today’s standards but at the time were justifiable. I think his point was if we were to use the Bible to set up public policy and adhere to it rigidly, we would have to let go of certain things and.. how do we determine what to hold on to and what to let go of? Everyone interprets things differently.
As a sidenote, I’m not a political junkie or anything, I’m just an engineering student so I don’t follow election stuff much. I just found this site because well, I was depressed and googled “all hope is lost” and I read one of Michael’s blog posts and it made me feel better. Then I read his about info and saw that he’s a mechanical engineer, I’m civil but I thought that was pretty cool as well.

Well, theonomy in general would disagree with the claims Obama made in the video. That’s why it offended me so much.
We have a very man-centered view of God these days, and seem to ignore the fact that God - as sovereign - is justified no matter what He does or allows to happen.

Maybe brother Obama can explain how he justifies voting 3 times against the Born Alive legislation,( to provide medical care to a baby that somehow lives therough an abortion attempt) with his close walk with Jesus and his intimate knowledge of the Bible?
November 17th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Brother Obama claims to be a devoted Christian..I am hoping that God in time, will reveal brother Obama’s Christian ideals, or we could indeed be in for “change” His (Obama’s) position on the Roe V Wade as well as born alive legislation may be proof of brother Obama’s ignorance of the Absolute Truth.
It also is troubling that Mr. Obama has rubbed elbows with new age celebrities and has outwardly professed his belief in Oprah Winfrey. God help us.
