Illegal Immigration Rally

Posted on May 3, 2011. Filed under: News | Tags: |

I find America impotent when I read stories like this. Illegal immigrants marching in broad daylight, and our country does nothing. Are laws supposed to be the laws? What are the consequence for breaking laws? Are laws optional for legal residents, too?

Town Celebrates Christmas Without Any Christianity

Posted on November 13, 2009. Filed under: Faith, News |

The town of Dundee has decided to celebrate Christmas, but is removing any reference to Christmas or Christianity. Christmas lights are now Winter Night Lights.

Then there’s this -

And, instead of the traditional nativity story, the festival will feature a solar-powered disco, a continental market, a circus and a fairy on stilts.

Oh good. Baby Jesus replaced by a fairy on stilts.

Go get your own dang holiday. Christmas is for Christ.

The Solution to Illegal Immigration and Healthcare

Posted on September 18, 2009. Filed under: News, Politics |

Problem: Should illegal immigrants get free healthcare?

Obama’s solution: Just make them all legal. There, all fixed now.

President Obama said this week that his health care plan won’t cover illegal immigrants, but argued that’s all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.

45% Of Doctors Would Consider Quitting If Congress Passes Health Care Overhaul

Posted on September 17, 2009. Filed under: News, Politics | Tags: , |

I was at the Post Office yesterday to pick up a certified letter. I was there for a little over an hour; there were 40 people in line, 2 clerks helping, and 1 supervisor watching both clerks. All I could think of is that I don’t want my appointment with a doctor to golike this.

Now it appears that nearly half of all doctors would quit if the health care overhaul bill passes. I don’t blame them. How would you like to wake up and find out you now work for the goverment.

Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.

The poll contradicts the claims of not only the White House, but also doctors’ own lobby — the powerful American Medical Association — both of which suggest the medical profession is behind the proposed overhaul.

California’s Nightmare Will Kill Obamanomics

United States

Kevin Hassett’s article is funny and sad. Sad becuse it’s true; funny because of his observations. Sample of funny:

The federal picture is so bleak because the Obama administration is the most fiscally irresponsible in the history of the U.S. I would imagine that he would be the intergalactic champion as well, if we could gather the data on deficits on other worlds. Obama has taken George W. Bush’s inattention to deficits and elevated it to an art form.

Sample of sad:

It takes years and years to make a mess as terrible as the California debacle, but the recipe is simple. All that you need is two political parties that are always willing to offer easy government solutions for every need of the voters, but never willing to make the tough decisions necessary to finance the government largess that results. Voters will occasionally change their allegiance from one party to the other, but the bacchanal will continue regardless of the names on the office doors.

To get into our current financial mess, we started with the idea that banks should loan money to people who couldn’t afford to pay them back. When banks balked, the US government bought the worthless loans. Now banks are happy, they can loan money to everybody.

This system flourished under George Bush, and collectively we happily spent our children’s future. When the system started to collapse in 2008, we spent more money to try and make it through the election cycle. It didn’t work.

Now our children are broke. Obama’s solution, then, is to also spend our grandchildren’s future. This is also unsustainable. We are spending money we have not earned, and selling IOU’s to China to pay for it. Eventually, China will not want to buy our IOU’s, and the value of the dollar will collapse. The Fed will be forced to raise interest rates to try to entice people to buy our IOUs.

Do we want the US to become a third world country? Is that our goal? At this point, I don’t care what the government wants to spend money on, I’m against it. I don’t want to pay for abortions in Africa or studying the drinking behavior of Chinese prostitutes. And I don’t want to spend so-called “Stimulus Package” money or pay for universal healthcare or credits to by housing or cars or energy efficient appliances. I don’t want the US government to suck money from our wallets via cap-and-trade or “taxing the wealthy.” I would be happy if Washington would just put the pens down and sat on their thumbs for a few years and did absolutely nothing.

Remember this: government does not grant freedom. Liberty is given to us by our Creator. Government can only pass laws which limit freedom.

I want to be free.

Woman Saved by Firefighters

Posted on July 2, 2009. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , |

A heroic story that will bring tears to your eyes. Swiss firefighters save a woman who said her television was on fire.

ZURICH (AP) — It must rank among the easiest fires ever to put out.

Zurich authorities say police and firefighters were called to the house of an elderly woman early Thursday after she reported her television set was burning.

When they arrived, they discovered no signs of fire or smoke.

They found instead that the TV was tuned into a German station that in the early morning hours aired the constant image of a fireplace.

“The fire was extinguished with the press of a button,” police said in a statement.

Condom Conundrum

Posted on March 23, 2009. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Liberal conundrum:

US Agency for International Development has distributed 10 billion US-made condoms around the world. To save money, they can switch to Chinese-made condoms. They’re less than half the price. But that will eliminate jobs in Alabama. Should the US government insert a “buy American” provision back into the stimulus bill, even though it’s known that protectionist trade policies hurt long term GDP? To save US jobs, it’ll cost more money and extend the recession.

Conservative conundrum:

What the *&#% is the US Government doing paying for 10 billion condoms?

Something Besides Obama

Posted on March 10, 2009. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Ok, “B” asked me to talk about something besides the political landscape. I’ll try, but somehow just saying I’m not talking about it makes me want to talk about it.

There are a lot of topics that are a possibility. There’s the Study that sexually explicit lyrics lead to teen sex. I’m actually encouraged so many teens are still abstaining. It also leads me to question again whether sex education in our schools makes sense. Teaching them responsibility for their actions makes more sense to me.

The number of people in America that say they have no religion at all has doubled since 1990 to 15%. Where should the blame lie? Media? Education? Government?

Illegal immigrants looking for work are causing traffic accidents in front of Home Depot. They admit they are in the country illegally. Seems to me a simple solution would be to call INS and say, “hey, there are a bunch of illegal immigrants here.” Our US government is responsibile for protecting our borders. Why don’t they do their job?

What do you want to talk about?

Mascots Under Attack

Chuck E.

First, there was Beat Mor Chiken. The Chick-Fil-A cow was mugged.

Then, McGruff the Crime Dog, savagely beaten by a Metro bus driver.

Was that all? Rats, no it isn’t. Chuck-E-Cheese was curdled.

If you are a big fuzzy lovable mascot, be afraid. Be vewy, vewy afwaid. The citizenry has had enough of your antics and is fighting back.
