Ok, so that’s a scare title. But not by much.Buried deep in the so-called Stimulus Plan are new government-mandated health-care restrictions. Here are some snippets – The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. One new bureaucracy, [...]

Hope and Fear

Inauguration Day: “On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.” Today: “This recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits . Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we [...]

Rejecting the Arrogance

Posted on February 5, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

In this morning’s Washington Post, Obama wrote that the Stimulus Package (which is horrendously misleading as there is far more liberal pet socialist programs than stimulus in the package) must be passed immediately or puppies will die. No time to read it, just sign it. But then he includes this phrase – “I reject these [...]

Presidential Actions, Week 1

Posted on January 26, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

I’m going to keep saying this so that I remember; “Obama is my President.” It’s important to remember we are called to be good citizens. But that doesn’t mean we check our beliefs and feelings at the door and blindly follow our new Dear Leader. In one week – He reestablished federal funding for overseas [...]

Executive Kill Orders

Posted on November 10, 2008. Filed under: News, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Obama’s first executive orders are about to gives us a hint what the next four years will be like. Presidents long have used executive orders to impose policy and set priorities. One of Bush’s first acts was to reinstate full abortion restrictions on U.S. overseas aid. The restrictions were first ordered by President Reagan and [...]

What Did We Learn?

Posted on November 5, 2008. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Obama beat McCain handily, 349 to 163 electoral votes. What we should have learned, I don’t know that we did. What we should have learned is that we have principles and ideals and we should stick to them. Ronald Reagan knew it, and we gave him victories. The 1994 Republican House knew that, and we [...]

Rob from the Rich, Stiff the Poor, Too

Posted on October 16, 2008. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I stared writing about “Joe the Plumber” yesterday based on a story at the New York Post. Little did I know how huge the story was about to become. John McCain launched Joe the Plumber into the national spotlight during last night’s debate. My post was going to be about how Obama’s strategy results in [...]

Targeting Religious Voters

Posted on August 14, 2008. Filed under: Faith, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

I must be a target, then. U.S. presidential rivals Barack Obama and John McCain target religious voters on Saturday when as guests of one of America’s foremost evangelists they discuss faith in public life, AIDS, the environment and other issues. Neither of the candidates appeal to me from a spiritual conviction. McCain can be downright [...]

Question for Obama: Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

Posted on August 12, 2008. Filed under: General | Tags: , , , , , , , |

La Shawn Barber asks Obama, “Who Do You Say Jesus Is?“ Obama portrays himself a man of faith. But a man’s level of faith is far less important than what he has placed his faith in. If you have a tremendous amount of faith in the Energizer Bunny, it’s far less effective than faith the [...]

EU Elects Obama President

Posted on July 25, 2008. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , |

Ok, I admit. I just don’t get it. Why is Obama campaigning in Europe? It’s apparent from yesterday’s new he’s won the German vote, and today he’s going after the French vote. He’s sure to win since McCain isn’t campaigning there. Is he trying to become President of the European Union?
