No, you don’t have to give up Google – this new Amazon.com search engine is developed in partnership *with* Google. Basically it allows smarter searches tailored for you.
Have you used one of those sites that lets you rank your findings in order to tailor itself to you? The example that pops to mind for me is Yahoo’s Launchcast. If a song comes on I like, I can rate it highly and it plays more often, and plays more songs like it (or if I hate it, click the “never play this again” button.) Amazon.com does something similar when you buy books or CDs, telling you what other items you may like.
This new search engine, A9.com , is still in beta, but it keeps your search history, letting you rank sites higher or lower. It even lets you make notations on the sites you’ve found, sort of like using a yellow highlighter in a textbook to mark the stuff you find most important.
Take a look at A9.com . You’ll need an Amazon.com password to sign in.
