Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

New Family Photos (1971 -1972)

“I’m on top of the world, Ma!
And I wanna get down!”

These photos start in late 1971 while still living in Tucker, Georgia and bring us through our move to Houston in early 1972, and then our visit to Arizona and Mexico in late summer.

1970 3rd Qtr – Tucker
Stone Mountain. They were still working on the large carving on the front of the mountain at the time. I also played a year of football that Fall and you can see here that I enjoyed it very much.

1970 4th Qtr – Tucker
Christmas in Tucker. Toys!

1971 1st Qtr – Mardi Gras
I wasn’t there. I do remember the beads my parents brought back though.

1971 2nd Qtr – Tucker
Easter in Tucker. Weren’t we cuuuute?

1971 3rd Qtr – Tucker Lake

What I remember most about this lake is the other side in the woods was scary to me – it was so far away, and only big kids would walk all the way around.

1971 4th Qtr Tucker Christmas
Our last Christmas in Tucker. Back then you could still call it Christmas.

1972 1st Qtr – Houston
This is the house Mom still lives in today. The backyard still had grass back then.

1972 2nd Qtr – 4th of July
A bike parade and a firetruck are the best way to celebrate Independence Day.

1972 3rd Qtr – Arizona
Later that summer we took a trip out west to Tuscon Arizona, then over the border to Mexico. I remember getting a clay puppet and getting it all boxed up. When Customs asked me what was in the box, I told them I couldn’t tell them because it was a secret.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
