A coordinated Googlebomb has succeeded. A google search for “waffles” points you to the number 1 website for information on waffles: John Kerry’s election website.
Previous well-known googlebombs were “Weapons of Mass Destruction” which points you to a fictional error page, “The weapons you are looking for are currently unavailable,” and “miserable failure” which points to George Bush’s biography at the White House website.
Ok, that’s enough – one poisoned tipped googledart at Bush, and another one for Kerry. Are we all square, enough people unhappy on both sides? Googlebombing undermines the respectability and usefulness of what is probably the best web searching tool available. I think we’ve seen enough abuse of the Google search engine.
Of course I’m a Bush supporter. I’m not blind, though – regardless of who’s the recipient of negative googlebombing, it still ain’t right.
