I’ve decided not to go see The Day After Tomorrow. According to USA Today, besides completely ignoring most of the laws of physics and thermodynamics, it’s based on a book called The Coming Global Superstorm by Art Bell, the radio crackpot who once faked a photo to claim that the comet Hale-Bopp was accompanied by a companion UFO, and Whitley Streiber, who claims in his book Communion that he learned of the Earth’s upcoming destruction via an alien implant in his left ear.
On top of all that, the anti-Bush hate site MoveOn.org is heavily promoting this with the help of Al Gore as a protest against the evil George Bush’s “environmental policies [that] could lead us into a real-life climate crisis.”
I love a nice brainless disaster movie as much as anybody. This is just a thinly disguised propaganda hack. I’m not going to waste my money.
