I tried to get WordPress installed last night so I could see if I want to switch away from Blogger.com. I got the following error message during the install:
Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
- Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
- Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
- Are you sure that the database server is running?
I decided it had to do something with setting up a mySQL table – I know I have a database, and the name and password was correct, so either the hostname, the table, or the database was wrong. I left a message on WordPress forums last night looking for some guidance.
Today I tried to check to see if there were any responses to my query. When I try to connect to the WordPress forums, I get this error message:

Somehow I don’t think they’re going to be much help in solving my problem if they are having the exact same problem. Maybe I’ll look at ExpressEngine instead.
