I was –> < — this close to making the conversion to WordPress tonight. I've been playing with it behind the scenes and happy with it. I found I could add a "style switcher" so that I could add a couple of professionally designed templates to appease those that do not care for the blue swirly mess I made.
All I had to do was recreate the mysql database… and that’s where things broke down. GoDaddy gave me an error during the delete; now I don’t have a database, but I can’t create a new one, either. Their tech support tells me it might be 3 days before they can get back to me. They have a different definition of “24/7” tech support than I do.
When I make the switch, the main web page will be “http://www.chasingthewind.net” without the “/blog” on it, but I’ll add a redirect page so the bookmarks will still work. Those linked via blogrolling may have to update their links, sorry.
I’m also going to lose all the comments entered through Haloscan unless I can find a way to convert them. Bumper. But long term, it’s for the best.
