Yay, I'm Back!

Grrr. I was gone.

I’m accelerating the conversion to WordPress tonight, so things may be broken – the menu colors on the left are terrible at the moment, and most of the blog links are gone, and I think I’ve lost the comments everybody made. Hopefully, I won’t ever have to start over again like this.

GoDaddy advised I should recreate my web host last week; since I wasn’t physically moving servers, it should take 20 minutes. Turns out, it’s 20 minutes after they actually get around to creating my new account. The status screen stayed at “DNS Pending” for 2 days. Apparently I was halfway done when “tech support” advised I should try manually setting my DNS entries… which delayed my web host reset another two days. Offline since Friday, and I was miffed.

Finally it was back about 4pm today, but the whole list of blogrolling “Blogs I Read” was broken. The new web host no longer supports “Server Side Includes” unless I upgrade my web hosting account. Like somehow they think I’m going to spend more money after they munged my site for 4 days. Not likely.

Since the old site would be limping along anyway, I decided to limp along under the new setup. I’m fixing it as fast as I can, I promise.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
