The local Houston Chronicle is a worthless left-wing news rag. There, I said it. They intentionally skip stories about C.L.O.U.T. homeowners protesting their way-out-of-sight property taxes, yet they happily publish this worthless article about Republican Governor Rick Perry:
AUSTIN — Prompted by recent controversies nipping at Gov. Rick Perry, several members of the Texas House are researching a long shot — how to impeach the governor.
Following that are several paragraphs of unnamed Democrats saying Perry should be impeached for something. Then a few paragraphs about past governors, unethical, that have been impeached. Finally toward the bottom of the article you get to the heart of the charge:
The Texas Lottery Commission’s hiring of a Las Vegas law firm to draft legislation to legalize video slot machines in Texas. The bill failed during the recent special session on school finance, and the law firm has so far billed the state for at least $176,743.
….
[State Rep. Pete Gallego, D-Alpine] said that impeachment talk was prompted primarily by the Las Vegas law firm’s hiring.
You have to get to the end of the article to find out the funds were approved in advanced by the state attorney general, were paid by the Lottery Commission, and the governor was not involved in that decision.
So the Houston Chronicle has floated this bogus story for the sole purpose of damaging Rick Perry’s reputation with a front page article with unnamed sources with bogus and vague charges. Look, Chronicle, to impeach somebody you need a crime to be committed. Your duty as the sole print source for Houston is to at least attempt to find some sort of balance and do a minute amount of research. To float the idea that he should be impeached without doing some sort of diligence to find out if there was a crime and if there was if Perry had anything do do with it is entirely abominable.
The Houston Chronicle has turned into a propaganda hack trying to compete for the journalistic cellar with the likes of the L.A. Times. I cancelled my subscription years ago and yet they *still* deliver it to me free so they can keep their subscription numbers inflated for advertising purposes. A couple of times a week I have to kick their trash over to the gutter so I don’t have to put my hands on it.
