Saddam and the Anti-Bush Crowd

My first thought when I saw this picture was, “Gadzooks, Dennis Miller looks terrible.”

It struck me as I read Saddam’s defiance:

“This is all theater. The real criminal is Bush,” Saddam later said, turning on President Bush (news – web sites), whose forces invaded Iraq and overthrew him 15 months ago.

“The real criminal is Bush.” Where have we heard those words? Exactly – the far left wing anti-war crowd. They’ve been chanting similar slogans for months and calling for Bush’s impeachment as though he’s done something illegal. He hasn’t, of course – he’s just done something the left doesn’t like.

I think that would be cause for introspection if I held similar left-wing views. If you’re agreeing with Saddam Hussein, the butcher of 1.2 million people, a man who set people on fire in front of their relatives, then perhaps you ought to rethink your views. It’s like saying, “Ya know, Hitler was just misunderstood…”

    I saw this come across my computer yesterday, and tried to visualize the reporter asking the question that led to the following response:

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House said on Thursday Saddam Hussein would face the justice he denied his Iraqi people and brushed aside his assertions at his trial that President George W Bush was “the real criminal.”

    How dare they “brush aside” real questions from a real REPORTER with an agenda, I’ll get them with my poison pen, and show the world who the real “evil doers” are. At this point, I begin to imagine foam speckled lips and a purple visage.

    Heh. I saw a quote this morning that said, “I am the President! Bush is the criminal!” And the blogger said, “That sounds like Al Gore.”

    I think Washington(Reuters) said that the White House brushed aside Saddam’s comments, SMurphy. Although, I do like your zeal.

    wow, saddam murdered 1.2 million people. how many people has the united states government killed? lets start with the native americans (the real americans), and, well, millions in central america, south america, asia, the middle east (these are just through military campaigns, not for our freedom but for capitalism). how bout the hundreds of thousands of children that died in iraq from the economic sanctions we placed upon the country, oh and hmmmm, didn’t we provide saddam with all the money and weapons necessary to murder his own people. come to think of it, we’ve also done the same thing with the taliban in afganistan, and in israel, well, damn just about every country. we’re still selling weapons and nuclear capabilities to north korea, then we’ll know for sure that they have weapons when we decide to make their country part of the empire. but you guys shouldn’t worry, the people who are dying mostly aren’t white and i guess that doesn’t matter, and heck, god would have wanted it that way. its weird that jesus really was black. if you read the scriptures correctly the chosen people aren’t white at all, they’re black. zion is ethiopia.
