Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

This Afternoon's Traffic Report…

Since I’ve been blogging in mid-April, I’ve logged 1800 hits here; that’s the number of unique people visiting daily.

There have been 500 hits since lunch. Gadzooks. From the referrers, it appears it’s not a single site coming here, but a smattering from several sources. Chasing the Wind was mentioned in Chronically Biased today for the rant against the Houston Chronicle, lots of people trying to figure out how to download Michael Moore’s F*** 911 movie for free, and the usual people trying to find Kingdom of Loathing information.

A couple of people looking for information on the Spiderman movie, about John Kerry’s stance on crossing picket lines, something called “steiner leisure complaints”… and trying to find information on watermellon carving.

Watermellon carving? Must be something in the air today. Mushroom spores, maybe. Whatever it is, welcome to all the new visitors. 🙂

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.

    I.             Introduction An old friend once told me a story that every married man understands. His wife tried on a new dress and asked, “Does this dress make me look fat?” He answered with complete honesty. It was true – and it was also unwise. Later he said something I have never forgotten: truth and… Read more: Finding Wisdom

    I.             Icebreaker — Stories of Reconciliation Before we turn to Nehemiah, let me connect us to where we’ve been the past couple of weeks. We don’t always stop to think about it, but even something as ordinary as getting to work safely is evidence of God’s care. I.             Introduction Israel had long been warned that disobedience would lead to captivity. Jerusalem fell, many were exiled, and empires changed hands. Daniel not only foretold the rise of Persia—he also lived through the transfer of power as God’s people remained in exile. Esther takes place in the Persian Empire after Babylon fell, when many… Read more: Esther: Queen of the Darkest Night

Either way, it feels like a fresh start. But Scripture reminds us that “new” isn’t mainly about the calendar. The Bible’s… Read more: God’s Plan: A New Year, A New You
