All Movied Out

I hope “movied” is a word.

Saturday I went to see Spiderman 2. Excellent movie – my son tells me it dovetails nicely with the original Spiderman comic books. The movie did a good job at developing Toby McGuire’s internal conflict. Special effects were very well done, but not overwhelming.

This morning I woke up with a killer headache, so I spent the day on the sofa. First was the original “Cabaret” with Liza Minelli that I’ve never seen. The growing Nazi threat in the movie begins as a minor background annoyance and ends with overwhelming the entire movie. I thought it ended odd, though – boom, it’s done. I suppose the fact there were still loose threads still hanging was sort of the point of the movie.

I followed that with “French Kiss” with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. A romantic comedy I’d seen before, but there were scenes I’d never noticed before, like Meg telling her ex-Mom-in-law, “I will triumph!” with the Arche de Triomphe in the background.

A short break to delete insulting comments from here, then back to the sofa. I saw “The Fugitive” again with Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford, then “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” which I’d never seen before. All of these movies gets thumbs up.

Reviews are short ‘cuz I’m headed to bed early. 😦
