At the University of Michigan, students will have to pay 2.8% more in tuition next year to make ends meets.
Even so, some class sizes will have to be increased. Some specialized courses will be cut back. 122 jobs will have to be cut, including 40 faculty. Travel funds are being decreased, library hours will be reduced.
Times are tough. We understand. Not all of it’s bad news, though. There’s new money for an annual Native American celebration, more coordinators for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community, and the multi-ethnic student affairs program (I’m assuming they don’t mean multi-ethnic extramarital affairs but I can’t be sure).
Whew. Good thing they have priorities.
