Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

My Socks Normally Bulge Like That

Pundits speculate that the missing documents, based on topics that Sandy Berger was researching, relates to what the Clinton adminstration knew about Al Qaeda operations in the US and the Clinton’s Adminstration’s plan of action. Other speculation is that Clinton actually had a plan developed after the Millenium Bomber was caught, but may have delayed implementation prior to Al Gore’s run for the Presidency. What is known is that the missing documents were written by Clinton counterterrorism advisor Richard Clarke and contained a list of vulnerabilities at America’s airports and seaports.

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket, pants and socks, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

Berger, currently serving as John Kerry’s foreign policy advisor, claims a vast right wing conspiracy of placing classified documents in his pants and socks and stresses that “he did not have a relationship with those documents in my trousers.”

Update to previous post: The AP’s story was originally 28 pages long and detailed Berger knowingly sticking documents in his pants and socks, the FBI raid on his house to recover them, and that some documents are still missing. By the time the NY Times ran the story, it had been whittled to 6 paragraphs and buried on page A17. All that was left was that some documents might be missing, it was inadvertent and just a technicality. Wizbang has the details.

Update: TrouserGate? Or SpongeBerger ScandalPants? You decide.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
