It was only a matter of time – John Kerry spent months criticizing the economy and blaming it on Bush, but all the signs showed that the economy had turned around and was starting to accelerate rapidly. At the convention last week, Kerry barely mentioned the economy. How is Kerry supposed to complain about the economy if the it won’t stay bad?
Now Kerry’s taking a new approach – now his complaint is that even though the economy is robust, Bush squandered it. He’s going to have trouble making that charge stick, too – the spending was on the military, education, and Medicare, and far from trying to reign in that spending, Kerry’s been proposing to spend even more.
Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry on Tuesday accused President Bush of having squandered a robust U.S. economy and pledged to balance the federal budget and spend responsibly.
He’s proposing a trillion dollars of new spending, but no doubt he thinks all of that is “responsible.”
