Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Do Not Chew on Cinderella's Head

I really enjoy The Bleat. If I had brain cells that remembered important things instead of, say, how to sing in spoonerisms, I’d probably remember that I’ve said that before. I really enjoy The Bleat. But instead of remembering that I’ve already said that, instead, it’s a vague “deja-vue” sort of feeling.

Update: I wrote about the Bleat only a week ago. *sigh*

The author always writes a fun mix of family and politics together and somehow manages to connect the two, though sometimes it’s a tenuous connection. Today’s article includes admonitions to his daughter “not to chew on Cinderella’s head” and a pre-discussion of the big media coverage of the John Kerry / Swift Vets stories. Will the mainstream coverage actually dig in to the meat of the stories and see if there’s any fact? Or will they instead talk about how unfair it is to bring those stories up?

As I’ve dug into mainstream media, it’s become painfully obvious to me that they’re unfair. Unfair stories all over the place. Yesterday the news talks about how unfair it is for a 527 group to attack a candidate like Kerry. Oh yeah? So you’re against MoveOn.org showing Bush morphing into Hitler and Michael Moore’s F9/11 movie? Yesterday Bush misspeaks, another malopropism, and sounds like the US wants to harm Americans. All over the news, hahaha. Most don’t know that Kerry also misspoke yesterday, saying that America needs to conduct terrorist operations. Why is one newsworthy and the other one isn’t? Pardon My English has the details.

The Bleat is interested in how the media will dig into the Swift Vet story. Already I see almost no coverage of Kerry’s legal letter to tv stations warning them not to play the Swift Vote ad. When independent conservatives tried to convince movie theaters not to show F9/11, the coverage of “censorship!” was everywhere. Where’s the “censorship” cry now when Kerry’s legal team goes even further? The media won’t let go of the innuendo that Bush was AWOL for 2 months during his National Guard and pressured Bush to release all of his records. Where’s the push for Kerry to release his medical records from VietNam? Wouldn’t that answer the critics that his first Purple Heart was treated with a standard band-aid? The news was all excited that Bruce Springsteen is going to sing songs for Kerry. Where’s the news that Gene Simmons and KISS are going to do the same for Bush?

The Bleat’s right – how the media covers these Swift Vet charges will be news in itself. And then, since the author was tired when he wrote his article, he again reminds us not to chew on Cinderella’s head.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
