Out of Sight, Out of Mind

I tried calling my new collegiate college son on Wednesday night to see how his first day of classes went. No answer on his dorm phone. I sent him an email, too, telling him I had emailed his Bearkat card. I can only assume he got the email; he didn’t reply.

I tried calling again Thursday night. Twice. No answer. I left a message that Dad says Hi.

I called at lunch today. No answer.

I tried late this afternoon. He picked up the phone. I asked him how college was going; he said he was on his way out to see a movie and couldn’t talk.

He’s acting like one of those dang college students. Heh.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
