Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Green Eggs and Spam

Bulk email now accounts for all email traffic on the internet. Yahoo catches and diverts one billion spam messages every day.

I don't like spam

I receive 80 pieces of spam a day. Fake phishing emails that look like they’re from eBay or Citibank, ads to buy cheap drugs, online poker, get rich quick schemes, free credit cards. And lots of offers for sex.

I have a spam email box that catches 95% of the spam, but it also catches the occasional legitimate email, too. I still have to look over the email subjects. Looking over 80 in one day is bad enough, but it’s gets wearisome that it’s adding up. Over 400 spam emails this week, over 20,000 in a year. And that’s just spam sent to me.

There’s got to be a better way.

  1. I have huge super massive spam protecters. I have large guys who stand around and protect me from spam. I had to change my email address. (atleast the one all the spam was going to).. that was after getting like over 300 a day.

  2. The account that gets all the spam is my primary email, same as my ISP account. I really can’t change it. I can ignore it, but I can’t change it. I think if I get to 300 a day, though, I’d give up email completely.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.

    I.             Introduction An old friend once told me a story that every married man understands. His wife tried on a new dress and asked, “Does this dress make me look fat?” He answered with complete honesty. It was true – and it was also unwise. Later he said something I have never forgotten: truth and… Read more: Finding Wisdom

    I.             Icebreaker — Stories of Reconciliation Before we turn to Nehemiah, let me connect us to where we’ve been the past couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, Tommy used home renovation shows—things like Property Brothers—to help us think about rebuilding. That fit Nehemiah well, because Nehemiah quite literally asks the king for permission to rebuild… Read more: Confession, Reconciliation, Celebration

    I.             Introduction Israel had long been warned that disobedience would lead to captivity. Jerusalem fell, many were exiled, and empires changed hands. Esther takes place in the Persian Empire after Babylon fell, when many… Read more: Esther: Queen of the Darkest Night
