Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Dirt Free

Bleh. Carpets are still wet this morning. So much for that “oh, an hour or two and they’ll be dry.”

Dirt Free Carpets did a decent job, but it’s obvious how they make they’re money. Their $99 special can easily cost hundreds of dollars. Every time you sneeze, they tack on $70 to clean that or $90 to clean this.

And besides, the cleaning man was grumpy.

  2. Heh. It was Saturday. Nobody reads Chasing the Wind on weekends. 😛

Perhaps I’ll discuss the nuances of various brands of furniture polish next.

  3. It’s Sunday and I’m reading it, Michael 🙂

I cleaned my own carpets a few days ago. It cost me $18.00 for the carpet shampoo and my time – – and I wasn’t grumpy at all about it. Next time you have this done you could hire me! 😉

  6. I have had nothing but problems with Dirt Free Customer Service. I had my house done on 8/23/08 and wrote a check to them. On September 30th they finally cashed my check but unfortunately I was having problems with my account due a corporate bank error and the money I had set aside for the carpet cleaning was used to pay auto payments when my paycheck didn’t automatically deposit. Immediately my company sent me down to my bank with a check and letter from the bank that made the mistake in order to get my account back on track. During all this I noticed that they returned my check to Dirt Free so I immediately called their office and paid with my debit card and explained the situation. Josh at Dirt Free understood my dilemma and thanked me for taking care of things so quickly. I explained if they needed a letter from the bank that made the mistake I could get him one and he declined beings I took care of the issue so quickly. On October 14th a company called FEDCHEX re-deposited my check to Dirt Free Carpets throwing my account back into a negative state. I called Josh at Dirt Free Carpets and spoke to him about this issue. He was rude and basically stated that this was entirely my fault because I am the one that “wrote them a bad check”. Mind you; I had called immediately and offered a letter from the corp. bank that originally started this mess in the first place and he said he didn’t need that it was obviously not my fault this all started. I have made several calls to Dirt Free to get the second payment returned to my account which they still have yet to do. My little 1100 sq ft house has now cost me $236.50 original amount (which I paid with my check card)….$245 in NSF fees because FedChex has re-deposited the original check; giving Dirt Free another $236.50 for the same job(now Dirt Free has been paid twice for services) and then today just to ice the cake a bit more FedChex has charged me another $30 to re-deposit my check making it a total of $748 to have about 900 sq ft of carpets cleaned. Dirt Free realized they made a mistake but now are refusing to make it right and trying to throw it all back on me. I am being treated like I was the one in the wrong and “it’s just too bad” it has cost me this much money. I was told by John at Dirt Free he would return my money for the “second charge” but has yet to do so. This could have all been avoided had Josh explained that FedChex would re-deposited my check and not to worry instead of taking my debit card over the phone full well knowing I was going to get pinged again from their collections company.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
