I still don’t get it? What nicks? What hood? I click the catapult thingy and it rolls and if I click it again Santa just falls out.

Ok, so much for subtlety lost on liberal arts majors 🙄
The idea is for the elves to push Santa just the the edge of the cliff while widing up the catapult on the way, then releasing just before the fall into the crevasse.To begin the elves you click once and release.
The little dudes push and accelerate towards the cliff edge.
Then, on the way to the cliff, you click and HOLD the mouse button down.
The longer you hold it down, the more the catapult winds up. But: there is a catch.
You CAN wind up the catapult too much and then the whole contraption grinds to a halt and the program insults you.
Your task:
1. Get the elves rolling with the first click 💡
2. Precisely click and hold to wind up the catapult so that you get maximum wind up energy on the way to the cliff – But not too much.:!:
3. Precisely release the mouse button just in time to fling Santa AND stop the
elves from falling over the cliff.There are some visual clues to help you do this.
1. Put the mouse in between the two vertical hatch marks on the top of the sleigh, just in front of the fulcrum pivot point. Don’t move it from this spot while clicking. This is important -it gives you a visual clue about when to click down to wind and release the catapult.
2. As the sleigh gets rolling, click an hold just as you pass the first of the three mountain peaks in the middle of the run. This is easy because now your mouse pointer will intersect the peak as you pass. Be quick and hold…..hold….
3. Now the tricky part. Release the mouse slightly before you get to the blue snow on the last slope before you go over the edge of the cliff. Your objective is to have the cursor stop just as it intersects the downslope of the last mountain. If your cursor hits the sky – you go over into the cliff. Time the release just right and you’ll fling that jolly old elf right under Rudolph, or 350.4m from the release point.Happy Hurling.

Yeah, I would have said a) click once to start the catapult moving, b) click and hold to pull back the catapult, c) release to fling Santa.

Terse is good, but as a writer of user documentation, I appreciate good directions. Thanks to Sean, I scored 309.7 on my second try.
My question is, how did everyone else know to click and hold to wind the catapult? Do I just not play enough computer games (read: none) or am I missing some click and hold instinct the rest of the world possesses?

Me and my friend played this for an hour in computer class instead of working and got to the point where every single time we get 334.3, never more, never less. Why cant I get it farther?
