Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Appraisal Cap for Texans

Urgent news from C.L.O.U.T. – the long-awaited appraisal cap bill is coming to the Texas house floor tomorrow. Call your representative now.

The schedule has changed! HJR 35 comes to a floor vote Wednesday – March 22nd.

So you have to call Austin today! Make your voice heard!

Here’s the bottom line: If we can burn up the phone lines to our State Reps we can force the passage of the 3% Appraisal Cap bill out of the House and on to the battle in the Senate.

But – if we don’t send over a 3% bill – the Senate will have NO MOTIVATION to pass meaningful property tax relief in the form of a realistic appraisal cap.

So – call your State Rep TODAY!!! Copy this email – pass around the office and neighborhood – and make at least 5 phone calls to Austin. You need to call your Representative twice and call 3 others in your area – follow the script included and use the web address here to find the list of State Reps! Be polite but be sure to tell them this is IMPORTANT!

AND DO IT RIGHT NOW – TODAY!!!

Here’s all you have to say: “My name is ___ and I am calling to urge you to pass legislation that will lower the annual increases on the appraised value of my home to 3 percent. My property taxes are going up faster than my budget, which means I have to give up more and more of my money each year to keep my home. Please fix this problem this session. Thank you for your time.”

You can find your State Representative and the others in your area by going to http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm.

Thanks for standing up for Property Tax Reform!

Call them TODAY!!!

My property taxes for a fairly normal sized townhome runs about $6500 a year – but the worst part is it is going up 10% a year. Which means next year it’ll be $7200, and in 5 years it’ll be $10,500. Ouch! I’m not even campaigning to reduce my taxes – I just want the growth to slow down!

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
