Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Lowering Stress

I’ve been tagged by Spin the Moon. I dunno why. Do I look like the kind of guy that plays “tag?” I’ll humor her, though. This time. 😛

Things you enjoy, not because you have to but because you WANT to, even when no one around you wants to go out and play. What lowers your stress/blood pressure/anxiety level? Make a list, post it to your journal. And then tag 5 friends and ask them to post it to theirs.

Five things, eh? My first choice is to fire up a video game and get lost in another world. Lately it’s been Civilization III, but prior to that was Ultima Online and Starcraft.

Second is watching a movie, either at the theater or at home.

Third is reading a good book. While I mostly read non-fiction lately, a good fiction novel will keep me occupied for hours.

Fourth is… um… eating a pint of ice cream. I don’t do that very often. 😛

Fifth is… I dunno. By the time I’ve worked my way through a pint of ice cream, I need a nap.

And now I must “tag” five others. Miss Vox and Uptown Girl and Spritzy and The Journey and Pamibe get the nod. Assuming they read this, of course. 😛

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.

      I.      Introduction – The Temple In our class last week, Tommy taught us that we should be prepared for the coming of the Lord.  Well, He’s here.  And here in Luke 2, we get our only inspired snapshot of Jesus between infancy and adulthood.  And we’ll see in just a few short verses something… Read more: The Temple

    I.             Introduction An old friend once told me a story that every married man understands. His wife tried on a new dress and asked, “Does this dress make me look fat?” He answered with complete honesty. It was true – and it was also unwise. Later he said something I have never forgotten: truth and… Read more: Finding Wisdom

    I.             Icebreaker — Stories of Reconciliation Before we turn to Nehemiah, let me connect us to where we’ve been the past couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, Tommy used home renovation shows—things like Property Brothers—to help us think about rebuilding. That fit Nehemiah well, because Nehemiah quite literally asks the king for permission to rebuild… Read more: Confession, Reconciliation, Celebration
