Iraq Withdrawal Vote Fails 403-3

That had to be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen our circus in Washington do. Democrats call for a pullout from Iraq, Republicans say, “We can vote on that” and Democrats say, “It’s a trick!” and vote against it.

Nobody wants troops in Iraq any longer than necessary. Any attempt to schedule a withdrawal though, will just encourage the enemy to wait us out. That’s what they expect us to do anyway, cut and run. I’m glad to see that the Democrats’ anti-war rhetoric was exposed for what it was.

  1. I want to find out who the 3 were.

  2. Three Democrats, Jose Serrano of New York, Robert Wexler of Florida and Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, voted for withdrawal. Six voted “present”: Jim McDermott of Washington; Jerrold Nadler, Maurice Hinchey and Major Owens of New York; Michael Capuano of Massachusetts and William Clay of Missouri.

  3. Makes a for a good story, but I’m pretty sure that the GOP guys knocked down a strawman proposal instead of what the Dems were asking for (having a strong majority lets you set strawmen up).
Oldest trick in the book. Fooled you though.

  4. Even the liberals acknowledge that Murtha originally asked for an immediate pullout and Nancy Pelosi and other liberals voiced support for it. Or you could just read Murtha’s original statement calling for an immediate exit.

I think it’s funny that liberals call for the immediate pullout from Iraq, then deny they said that, then vote against their own rhetoric.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
