Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Mechanical Investing for September 2006

The old portfolio has stabilized and erased nearly all of the losses from July. I’m glad I dropped that YLDEARNYR screen; things would look far more rosy if I hadn’t used it. THe Mechanical Investing forum is discussing the reliability of these screens with varied start dates, and it’s probable I’ll make some adjustments when January comes around. For now, though, I’m happy the losses are gone, and now let’s see if I can catch back up to the market as a whole the next few months.

  • Last 4 weeks: +3.9%
  • Last 3 months: -0.1%
  • Year to date: -0.8% (Dow is +7.1% ytd from 10,718)
  • Last 12 months:+0.3%

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
