Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Weekend Recap

I need more three day weekends like that. 🙂

Friday I picked up Diane and took her to brunch, and then off to shop for a chapel and start eyeing a date. I suppose we could run off to Vegas and get hitched like Miss Vox did this weekend – and yes, we’ve thought about it a couple of time – but we feel called to something more traditional.

Friday night we went out for Thai food with Sean and Carmen…. no, wait a sec… ah, that’s right, Sean nixed the Thai idea for the 327nd consecutive time. We went to a quaint little Italian restaurant instead, followed by a stop for coffee.

Saturday morning Diane & I grabbed a bagel and shopped for wedding rings. I’m pretty sure Diane wants them all. We shopped until her finger was too sore to try on any more rings, and then, with our brains full and stomachs empty, we went to an all-you-can-eat Thai buffet. Sean didn’t come with us for the 328th consecutive time.

And Sunday, a nice tradition from our church, they set the clocks forward after church starts. No reason to set the alarms to get up extra early; it was nice to sleep in. The only drawback was the compressed afternoon; we had cajun sandwiches with the bible study group and it was after 3 o’clock when we were finished.

We swung by the house and picked up Patch and Bella (rescuing Patch from his incessant whining to go next door and play) and went for an afternoon stroll at the Japanese Gardens at Hermann Park.

I felt like I just had a week’s vacation. 🙂

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
