The Iraqi hand-over came 2 days early. Paul Bremer of the Coalitional Provisional Authority read a short speech at a hastily arranged news conference and handed authority over to Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. President Bush has already sent a letter to the new Iraqi government asking to restore diplomatic ties. Security concerns were a consideration in handing over power early, but it was Allawi that asked for the handoff early, saying Iraq was ready to assume power.
NATO, which has been unable to help because of France and Germany’s opposition, stopped squabbling and agreed to help the new Iraqi government.
The Left is already claiming the US is “cutting our losses and running.” Sheesh.
