Chernobyl and the Weekend

The Bleat, as usual, was excellent today. He turned his daughter’s playhouse into Chernobyl. Go read it now or I shall taunt you unmercifully. I shall taunt Sean twice and include snide comments like, “Oh, so you were home schooled? I couldn’t tell.”

I’m waiting for Alex to magically appear from college. He’ll either want to go shopping for underwear or catch a movie. I’m going to suggest a movie. I want to see “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.”

Famous scientists around the world have mysteriously disappeared and Chronicle reporter Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow) along with ace aviator Sky Captain (Jude Law) are on the investigation. Risking their lives as they travel to exotic places around world, can the fearless duo stop Dr. Totenkopf, the evil mastermind behind a plot to destroy the earth? Aided by Franky Cook (Angelina Jolie), commander of an all-female amphibious squadron, and technical genius Dex (Giovanni Ribisi), Polly and Sky Captain may be our planet’s only hope.

MPAA Rating: PG for sequences of stylized sci-fi violence and brief mild language.

Yes, Sean, you can join us. If you’ve finished your reading assignment by then (The Bleat, remember? Sheesh), you’ll enjoy the movie more without having that vague feeling that… well.. you know. Vague something.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
