Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Hayden's Improving

Hayden is making remarkable progress. John’s email needs no explanation:

Dear Family and Friends,

I returned from a three day trip late yesterday. It is hard to focus under the current situation, but things went well. As soon as posable I drove to the hospital. Hayden has a very large room now and a new set of care givers.

Although Hayden is still very irritable she was able to follow objects with her eyes for the first time. We knew her optic nerve was active due to the fact her eyes reacted to light. Today was the first time she showed any sign of her ability to see. I was told her sight would be one of the last functions to return. Her recovery is going much faster than I imagined.

Her mobility is getting stronger and she is looking better. Her vital signs have not changed and is still getting medication to reduce her irritability. when she is agitated, her heart rate soars as does her blood pressure. Due to her injury, the physicians are trying to keep her calm.

It is difficult to gage how long it will be before she is able to cope without medication. Holding her seems to comfort her and rocking her quiets her even more. I guess I had better invest in a rocker. It still breaks my heart to see her in pain. I hope she gets past this stage soon.

Thank you for the prayers and support,

Grampa John

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
