If my train of thought leaves Chicago at 35 miles per hour….
What am I doing? Oh, nothing. Thanks for asking. I was just reflecting on how much I enjoy having this website and all the visitors that leave comments, but some days I just don’t feel like diving into the topic du juor. Al Qaeda? U.N. scandal? Iran nuclear weapons? An ebay advertisement for a 10 year old grilled cheese sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary on it? (By the way, you can now get Grilled Cheese / Virgin Mary t-shirts on e-Bay, too.)
But then I thought… there are no rules to this blogging thing that I have to follow. Great insight? Profound wisdom? Post every day? Stick to a single topic? Bah. I’m having none of it.
So today I’m just going to throw out random topics with only minor commentary. It’s the lazy, happy me for this Thursday.
Condaleeza Rice is now Secretary of State. Good news all the way around. I’d like to see her travel to Afghanistan where the women had to wear burkhas until recently. “Look at what the women in America get to do!” The news media should be ga-ga about her, but they’re not. Talented, intelligent, articulate black women in the Republican Party annoy the liberal media.
There’s a bonfire memorial being unveiled at Texas A&M shortly. I think I’d like to do a blogging about it. Eventually. Maybe call it Aggie Stonehenge. Nah, that’s too obvious.
I was looking forward to seeing Alexander the Great at the movies. Now I’m not. I had no idea Alexander the Great was bisexual. Did I really need to know that? Now I probably won’t see this movie unless I can convince myself it’s historically necessary.
I’ve decided to slim down again. I’ve lost 7.5 lbs in 10 days and I’m ahead of schedule. 45 pounds to go by April 1.
I’m about to become a Baptist. I’m enjoying Houston Second Baptist Church. I’ve never been a Baptist before. I’m studying the Baptist teachings now to make sure they don’t conflict with my faith. So far, so good.
At work, we won the project I’ve been working on. That means I’ll be busy for another year. I like work; when I go there, they give me money. But my job will make me to to Newark, New Jersey in the middle of January for a few days. I’m being punished. Why can’t I have a job that takes me to Jamaica in winter?
I need to make time to scan in another 100 family photos. It takes me 6 hours when I do that, but there are only 400 slides left to go. I want to finish this project in time for Christmas next year.
I only received 302 pieces of spam this week, down from 475 last week. Do spammers take vacations? I read that Bill Gates of Microsoft receives 4 million pieces of spam every day. Good. Perhaps that’ll motivate him to find some way to fix it.
The new Secretary of Education is Margaret Spellings, who replaces Ron Paige. I hope she’s married, otherwise, Miss Spellings will be in charge of Education. Somehow, that’s just wrong.
TiVo has announced they’ll be introducing ads you can watch as you fast forward through ads. I’m thinking TiVo has forgotten who their customer is. Nobody wants to watch ads. I’m considering a speculative move to short some of their stock. I might as well make some money if they’re going to be stupid.
Perhaps the makers of TiVo have been sucking on Banyan tree juice.
JAKARTA (AFP) – Crowds are flocking to a Hindu temple on Indonesia’s resort island of Bali for a glimpse of an ancient banyan tree which has begun oozing a honey-like substance said to have mystical properties.
Priests say many onlookers attending a ceremony to purify the liquid showed symptoms of being possessed by spirits — running around the temple grounds and clambering into the tree’s branches.
And I haven’t started Christmas shopping yet. Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese T-shirts for everyone!
And now lunch is over. 🙂
