Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Things I Learned While On Business

  • If I can possibly help it, I will never buy a minivan. I rented a Chevy Shoebox (so named for the comfort factor) since I was the driver for 5 guys.
  • From Ewing, NJ, I-95 intersects US Highway 1 whether you head north or south.
  • If the directions to the manufacturing plant read, “Take I-95 east”, you have to flip a coin since I-95 only goes north or south. No matter since you’ll run into US Highway 1 no matter which way you go.
  • Except if you go the wrong way, you’re 45 minutes late to the meeting.
  • I don’t think people in that part of the country go out for dinner. The restaurant was a 40 minutes drive.
  • And yes, I went the right direction on I-95 this time.
  • At 3°F, when crossing the parking lot to fetch the minivan, your boogers freeze.

The only real hiccup was that when the 5 of us showed up, the hotel (I won’t name names, but the initials of the hotel were “Courtyard by Marriott in Ewing, NJ”) only had rooms for 4 of us. Apparently they don’t believe that “Guaranteed Late Arrival” actually means you can arrive late and get a room. Now I don’t know what that phrase means.

  2. I wasn’t planning on buying one. I just found it difficult to look macho behind the wheel of a minivan.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.

    I.             Introduction An old friend once told me a story that every married man understands. His wife tried on a new dress and asked, “Does this dress make me look fat?” He answered with complete honesty. It was true – and it was also unwise. Later he said something I have never forgotten: truth and… Read more: Finding Wisdom

    I.             Icebreaker — Stories of Reconciliation Before we turn to Nehemiah, let me connect us to where we’ve been the past couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, Tommy used home renovation shows—things like Property Brothers—to help us think about rebuilding. I.             Introduction Israel had long been warned that disobedience would lead to captivity. Jerusalem fell, many were exiled, and empires changed hands.
