Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Global Dimming

The news media for years have indoctrinated us to believe that our atmosphere was getting dirtier, which leads to global warming, then massive climate changes, starvation, and so on and so on.

But now studies are showing that the air is actually getting cleaner…. and that, too, leads to global warming.

Our planet’s air has cleared up in the past decade or two, allowing more sunshine to reach the ground, say two studies in Science this week.

Reductions in industrial emissions in many countries, along with the use of particulate filters for car exhausts and smoke stacks, seem to have reduced the amount of dirt in the atmosphere and made the sky more transparent.

That sounds like very good news. But the researchers say that more solar energy arriving on the ground will also make the surface warmer, and this may add to the problems of global warming. More sunlight will also have knock-on effects on cloud cover, winds, rainfall and air temperature that are difficult to predict.

Apparently, then, everything leads to global warming.

My solution, as yet unreported by mainstream meadia, is for everybody worldwide to turn on their air conditioners and open the windows, thereby cooling the great outdoors.

  1. Isn’t is crazy how mixed up things can be? I also read that the evil 666 has been wrong all this time and it really should be 616. I don’t know how true that is, but it shows us that we better be sure of what we say and believe.

  2. Revelations 15-18:

He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666.

  3. I remember learning about the mark of the beast when I was a little girl and since then I never let three 6’s be in anything I do. For instance if my total at a store is $6.66 I always ask the clerk to keep an extra penny so it will be $6.67. I’m also odd about my license plate, phone number, street address – – well everything. So there is no way I’d get the mark on my forehead or hand, but then I don’t plan on being around when all that comes to be. 🙂

  4. Jamie was almost correct. I do respect her choice to let her legs go natural. The first number was 668 but over time the 8 became worn and appeared to be a third 6. Whenever my item comes to a total of $6.68, I ask the store clerk if I could pay $6.67. Over the last several years I have saved enough to stay a night at the Red Inn Motel.

  5. LoL. Now if John could tie that back into the original subject of global warming, I’d be most amused. 😛

  7. I heard President Bush is going to be able to fight Global Dimming by extending the amount of daylight the western hemisphere receives. That may shortern the days somewhat in Africa, but he said they receive more sun light than they really need. I hope this clears this issue up.

  8. That’s a barely concealed socialist sunlight distribution. I’m very much against this sort of exploitation of 3rd world countries.

  9. No, no… The third world will be sold power plants and light bulbs to make up for the light deficit.

It’s all a Rove/Bush plan to build more Halibrton power plants overseas, dont you understand anything?

  11. Your first statement is false. Global warming is not caused by air pollution. Pollution slows it down. Global warming is caused by increased releases of C02, into the athmosphere. Human caused CO2 is estimeted to be approximatly 3% of the total CO2.

Global dimming is caused by air pollution, small particles that are bi-products in the process of burning fossil fuels. Those small particles, often found in a 3km thick belt in the athmosphere, changes the size of raindrops. Smalller raindrops reflects more sunlight, and clouds consisting of small raindrops, will reflect more sunligh, hence the word dimming.

So dimming is actually slowing down global warming, but as the industry get better at polluting less, and at the same time release more co2 you have an increase in global warming, and less slowing down of the global warming.

  12. Uh Hans,

Tell me how the greenhouse gas called water vapor plays into it?

  13. You see, higher temperatures lead to more evaporation which leads to more cloud cover and more precipitation which leads to cooling which leads to lower temperatures.

Therefore, it is obvious that higher temperatures lead to lower temperatures. And vice versa. We’re doomed.

  14. Mikey, read the followingm from the DOE and tell me what this means – “the ability to absorb heat”. Is this the specific heat index of the molecule? One would assume that this is the physics behind the C02 molecule in global warming – it traps all that heat. But there are even more eeeviill molecules out there apparently as the are really efficient heat traps, such as HFC’s and PFC – which is why they make really good heat transfer mediums in air conditioners.

Help me work out the physics here, then tell me the amount of heat that a di-hydrous oxygen molecule can absorb compared to that old C02. I suspect that given it’s ability to absorb heat, and it’s prevalence in the mix of atmospheric gases, AND it’s composition in cancerous cells, its responsibility in numerous deaths by asphyxiation and the like that we are being led astray in our hatred for CO2, its this other molecule that needs our attention.

I suspect that Di-hydrous oxygen is the main cuplrit in all this ballyhoo. See what you think, and note that it is NOT in the list mentioned —-coincidence? I think not….. because all heavy industry would grind to a halt overnight without this key molecule. Blatherskites and Scallywags, man! We’re on to something.

    FROM THE DOE:

Each greenhouse gas differs in its ability to absorb heat in the atmosphere. HFCs and PFCs are the most heat-absorbent. Methane traps over 21 times more heat per molecule than carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide absorbs 270 times more heat per molecule than carbon dioxide. Often, estimates of greenhouse gas emissions are presented in units of millions of metric tons of carbon equivalents (MMTCE), which weights each gas by its GWP value, or Global Warming Potential.

  16. I think that’s “dough” was rising.

Sean, my brain cells no longer function that way. My ChemE and Heat Transfer classes were a long time ago. I’m sure the scientists are telling the truth – that everything that used to cause cancer in laboratory rats now causes global warming.

  19. It seems that our shower water is getting hotter. Is this caused by global warming or maybe related to global dimming? I know for a fact that many folks worried about Global dimming have already stopped showering or may only shower once every 2 or 3 weeks. This may cause a drop of population if continued…

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
