Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

"Firefly" for Free!

SciFi channel will be showing all 13 Firefly episodes starting this Friday evening for FREE! Prepare for the upcoming blockbuster movie “Serenity” by watching the original series on Friday nights

Fabulous sci-fi / western series, can’t say enough good things about it. Funny and smart, it was the best series I’ve seen on television in a very long time.

Get some background from this article from a tip from Spinthemoon.

In this future the farther settlers travel from the central Core planets, the more rural they get. So you get spaceships and computers, but you also get horses and revolvers and pretty floral bonnets. There’s excitement and comedy and romance and crime and even an autopsy or two. No swapped soccer moms or entrails-eating for money, but I think the other networks have those covered.

And remember, every time you support a canceled Fox show, somewhere a network executive loses his wings.

  1. Um, I don’t think they’re showing ALL 13 episodes in one night…but they are adding Firefly to their Friday night line-up.

  2. Cher can “slow down time…” so I guess she can watch all 13 episodes in one night.

  5. Ah, good taste in Sci Fi too.

My friend lent me the season of Firefly on DVD. To my surprse, I really liked it. I say surprise because I vaguely remember feeling very uninterested in Firefly when it was being promoted. Something about the adds did not appeal to me. And apparently to many others. I am a big Sci-Fi fan and would normally be interested in such shows.

When I finally watched it, it was funnier, had better effects, and less objectionable material than most stuff on television (despite the presence of the “socialiator”). I too am looking forward to the movie and am glad Sci Fi is showing on Fridays. Though this does create a problem. Just how many different universes can I suspend disbelief regarding in one night? Firefly, SG-1, SG-Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.

    I.             Icebreaker — Stories of Reconciliation Before we turn to Nehemiah, let me connect us to where we’ve been the past couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, Tommy used home renovation shows—things like Property Brothers—to help us think about rebuilding. That fit Nehemiah well, because Nehemiah quite literally asks the king for permission to rebuild… Read more: Confession, Reconciliation, Celebration
