Ok, so I’m an engineer. See if you know the answers to the following. I’ll post the answers in a couple of days.
1. What planet is the only planet that rotates clockwise?
2. Approximately how many bricks were used to build the Empire State Building?
3. What is the brightest man-made place that can be seen from space?

9. What make of car broke the record for driving the equivalent of 4 times around the world non stop?
10. Approximately what percentage of worldwide oil reserves does the Middle East have?
11. If you traveled at a constant speed of 30 miles per hour, how many days would it take you to reach the center of the earth from the equator?
12. What is the maximum power you could achieve from a wind turbine that has a blade radius of 7 meters in a wind velocity of 5 m/s?

I have to ask, did you know the answers to all of those questions off the top of your head? I’m feeling very…non-engineering.

Jennifer, as an engineer, I just know where to look. 🙂 Some of them because of my mechanical engineering background in the oil business I either know or how to calculate, like #’s 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12.

Hello Michael, Its really impressive!!
I am too a mechanical engineer from IIT-V,(India).I m organising a engineering quiz competition in my intitute. Can you help me arranging some good questions of engineering?

I don’t believe I have the time to help you with that.

1. What planet is the only planet that rotates clockwise? The one that isn’t rotating counterclockwise
2. Approximately how many bricks were used to build the Empire State Building? One less than one too many
3. What is the brightest man-made place that can be seen from space? The one with the most lights
4. Which dam holds the largest volume of water? This is obviously a trick question. Dams don’t hold water. They hold water back.
5. Isotopes of the same element all have the same..?
6. Which tunnel is the longest? Tunnel vision
7. How long would it take for someone on Earth to realize the sun had stopped shining? Are we talking Republicans or Democrats?
8. What is the correct composition of gases in the atmosphere? The one that lets me breathe without gills
9. What make of car broke the record for driving the equivalent of 4 times around the world non stop? Not the one I drive, for sure
10. Approximately what percentage of worldwide oil reserves does the Middle East have? Less than you’d think
11. If you traveled at a constant speed of 30 miles per hour, how many days would it take you to reach the center of the earth from the equator? The same as the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop
12. What is the maximum power you could achieve from a wind turbine that has a blade radius of 7 meters in a wind velocity of 5 m/s? Me, personsally? Not very much, because I’m not very mechanical.
