Conversation in a Cafeteria

This morning.

Cook: What you like?

Me: Two eggs, slice of cheese.

Cook puts 2 eggs and sausage in the to-go box.

Me: I don’t want any sausage.

Cook dumps everything out, starts over.

Cook: What you like?

Me: Two eggs, slice of cheese.

Cook: You want sausage?

Me: Sausage? No, I don’t want sausage.

Cook puts 2 eggs in to-go box.

Cook: What else?

Me: Slice of cheese.

Cook: Sausage?

Me: No sausage. A piece of cheese.

Cook: We no have pizza.

pause

Me: Dos huevos y queso por favor.

Cook puts 2 eggs and a slice of cheese in a to-go box.

Me: Gracias.

Cook: De nada.

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
