Help Us Jon Cary We R Stuk in Irak

Yup, that just about killed John Kerry’s chances of being President in 2008. First he insulted the troops, saying that if you’re stupid you get stuck in Iraq. Then, instead of apologizing, he went on the offensize and blamed Bush, even though Bush had nothing to do with Kerry’s statement. Then Kerry claimed it was a botched joke (which no doubt is Bush’s fault, too).

So now Kerry can apologize ineffectively (ineffective because it’ll look like he was pressured into it), and it’ll be an apology that’ll impress nobody. Conservatives won’t care, liberals will think Kerry’s weak. Or he can not apologize in which case moderates will think Kerry is just rude and stupid. That pretty much dug his hole. If he runs for President in 2008, he won’t make it past the first 3 weeks of the primaries.

Update: John Kerry has apologized for this:

You know, education–if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.

As far as I know, he still hasn’t apologized for this fropm 1971:

They had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

Six days before the election, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee said he sincerely regretted his words were “misinterpreted to imply anything negative about those in uniform.”

I think that he actually regrets that we were stupid and misinterpreted his previous words. Weasle.

I think that this betray’s the moonbat’s whole idea of the military being poor uneducated slobs that had no other choice than to join the army or get sent to prison. Thank goodness that people like them are socially progressive enough to take care of us poor slobs, because goodness knows we can’t do it ourselves.

It’s a 1960’s attitude they simply cannot grow out of.

Fun to watch, though.

He claimed he was making a joke. Which just shows that some people shouldn’t even try to be funny.

You’d think he’d learn from the last election’s everyone-thinks-you’re-an-intellectual-snob feedback, but nooooo.

Jo? Is that you? Sometimes you surprise me.

The worst part of Kerry’s response was to blame what Kerry said on Bush, then said he misspoke. In other words, Kerry says the intellectually inferior person is to blame for the actual words that came out of Kerry’s mouth. I wonder if that’ll work for other situations – like, if I’m late to work, I can say it was a botched commute that is all Bush’s fault?

Haven’t you been paying attention, Michael? Everything is Bush’s fault. Cut yourself shaving? Bush was responsible. The potatoes boiled over? Must have been Bush. Right now the connection from Bush to head lice infestations is tenuous, but the Democrats are convinced they will have definite proof soon that Bush was behind it.

I second that Blamebush website; it’s hilarious. Of course, reading it everyday is tedious because the parody ends up being so similar to the reality.

Head lice infestations are a Karl Rove conspiracy to keep poor children out of school so the children of rich white Republicans are the only ones with education.

Heh. OpinionJournal today has a recap of Jon Cary’s non-apology.

Yesterday John “Botched Joke” Kerry issued what purports to be an apology for his disparagement of U.S. servicemen. Here it is in full:

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop [sic].

I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

First of all, Kerry is a combat veteran? We had no idea! Too bad there aren’t better options for people of his limited education and intellect.

Kerry’s apology isn’t really an apology at all. Here’s a shorter summary of it:

1. What I said wasn’t really what I said.

2. I’m sorry if you misinterpreted what I was saying by taking it at face value.

3. Republicans suck.

Why it is so hard just to say, “I’m sorry for what I said”?
