Thanks, Apple!

Posted on March 31, 2005. Filed under: Technical | Tags: |

After struggling for 3 days trying to get my PC to recognize my iPod, I returned it yesterday. Today I received an email from Apple.com: “Dear Michael, Thank you for registering your new Apple product.” Amusing.

Terri Schiavo is Dead

Posted on March 31, 2005. Filed under: Faith, News, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

After 13 days without food, Terri Schiavo died today at the age of 41. My prayers are with Terri’s parents who gave a good fight to try to save their daughter’s life. And I condemn her “husband;” he used the “sanctity of marriage” screen for his decision while already engaged in an adulterous affair, and [...]

Alone in a Crowd

Posted on March 31, 2005. Filed under: Politics | Tags: |

I saw a car the other night on the way to church. On the left side of the car was a bumper sticker, “I am a Pro-Life Democrat, http://www.democratsforlife.org .” On the right side of the car was a yellow ribbon with the words “Support Our Troops, Freedom Isn’t Free.” And I’m looking at this [...]

MP3 Player Update

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: Personal Stuff, Technical | Tags: , |

I returned the iPod tonight; I guess they don’t get a lot of iPod 30 Photo returns. I don’t know why mine acted so wonky, but I reinstalled the software tonight to no avail. Then I uninstalled everything and took it back. They were having some trouble getting the credit right since I bought and [...]

Stressed Out, Overworked

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: Personal Stuff | Tags: |

Conversation with stressed-out co-worker: Me: Ugh. I need a vacation. Them: You? I can’t even see out of my eyeballs. I need a vacation! Me: I’m going to shoot you with this rubber band. Them: I won’t even be able to see it coming… er, how is that going to help me? Me: It won’t [...]

Death Row Sentence Dismissed Because Jury Read Bible

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: Faith, News | Tags: , , , , |

Yesterday I read that in Colorado, a conviction for the death penalty was set aside because the jury read bible passages such as the Leviticus “an eye for an eye” and “he who kills a man shall be put to death” during deliberations. Back in 1995, the jury unanimously found the defendant Robert Harlan guilty [...]

Links of the Day

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Over lunch today, I found a bunch of topics that interested me, but if I wrote about everything that interested me, I’d be posting all day. *That* ain’t gonna happen. So here are the topics I’m not writing about, even if it looks like I’m writing about them now. I’m not. But they’re interesting reads: [...]

Waiting Until 13th Day

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: News | Tags: , , , |

I wonder why the 11th Court of Appeals waited so long? Did they want Terri dead first? Mar 30, 12:40 AM (ET) ATLANTA (AP) – A federal appeals court early Wednesday agreed to consider a petition for a new hearing on whether to reconnect Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube. As if that wasn’t bad enough, CBS [...]

iPod Troubles

Posted on March 30, 2005. Filed under: Technical |

After turning in the possessed iRiver H10, I exchanged it for the iPod Photo 30. I don’t think the possession factor is any less. Installation was a piece of cake, but the iPod isn’t always shown as “mounted” which is when the software is transferring music to the iPod. The iPod continually cycles between “Do [...]

Bigotry and the Murder of Terri Schiavo

Posted on March 29, 2005. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

Harvard student Joe Ford, who suffers from cerebral palsy, has written an excellent article on Terri Schaivo’s case. Joe is somewhat irritated that a doctor once tried to put him out of his misery, too. “Misery can only be removed from the world by painless extermination of the miserable.” —a Nazi writer quoted by Robert [...]
