Our Next Contestant for Supreme Court Is…

Posted on October 31, 2005. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , |

Bush has nominated Samuel Alito for Supreme Court of the United States. I like him for the following reasons: He’s Italian and Florence is a beautiful city. He has decades of conservative judicial opinions under his belt. Harry Reid doesn’t like him. No matter who Bush nominates, there is going to be a fight. I’m [...]

Mechanical Investing for November 2005

Posted on October 31, 2005. Filed under: Finances | Tags: , , |

Goodness, the market was a ride this month. The first two weeks of October showed great gains, then the last two weeks gave it all back and then some. Yuck. Here’s the scorecard so far; looks like I would have done exactly as well if I had put the cash under a mattress: Last 4 [...]

God Speaks

Posted on October 30, 2005. Filed under: Faith, Odd Websites | Tags: , , , |

Ever see one of those billboards signed “God”? The organization that puts up the billboards has a website at Godspeaks.com. From there, you can see all their billboards and see basic questions about Christianity, whether you’re doing great or whether you need some help.

The Gospel

Posted on October 29, 2005. Filed under: Movies and TV | Tags: , |

I saw The Gospel last night. While the movie could have benefitted from better editing, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It dealt with a variety of Christian issues, from pride to doubt to anger and hate, and how Christians overcame their doubts. The rarity to me was that this was a positive, Christian movie role [...]

What's the Deal with Wicca?

Posted on October 29, 2005. Filed under: Christian Book Reviews | Tags: , |

Many, many books to review. Until I get caught up, I’m not signing up for any more. I’ll be reviewing this book soon, so stay tuned. It deals with why Wicca is so tempting to teenagers (particularly to girls) and why it is so dangerous.

Music Meme

Posted on October 29, 2005. Filed under: Personal Stuff, The Blog | Tags: , , , , |

I think this is the first time I’ve ever used the word “meme.” Miss Vox tagged me over a month ago to do this – and since I didn’t get a pingback for some reason, I almost missed it. Then I wrote it on my todo list so I could reschedule it umpteen times. Total [...]

Think Before You Look

Posted on October 28, 2005. Filed under: Christian Book Reviews | Tags: , |

I’ve signed up to review several books from Mind & Media, and they all came in while I was away in Germany. Now I’m behind. Oops. The first book is “Think Before You Look” by Daniel Henderson. Subtitled “Avoiding the Consequences of Secret Temptation,” the book is a biblical examination of the problems pornography can [...]

AlphaOmega Theme

Posted on October 28, 2005. Filed under: General, The Blog |

I’ve changed the default theme, the background graphics, to AlphaOmega (adapted from Stevish 2 almost as-is). If you prefer the older Blue Swirly theme (or you *still* see the Blue Swirly theme and want to see the AlphaOmega theme), there’s a Theme Switcher box in the sidebar. Switch back and forth all you want.

At The Journey, Rodney wonders about insects with low self-esteem. There’s something wrong with Rodney. Officials in Rome, Italy, have solved one of the world’s most pressing problems by banning the use of round goldfish bowls. If you want to Taunt Libs, there are some new t-shirts available. Hey, it’s what they think about conservatives [...]
