Hyperactive Monkeys

Forsooth, great works approacheth. Scientists have apparently found a gene that is responsible for laziness. When the gene was supressed, the monkeys worked harder.

If you had a room full of monkeys, they say, eventually you’d produce all the great works of Shakespeare. Imagine what you could accomplish with a room full of hyperactive monkeys. Cold fusion? A cure for the common cold? A perpetual motion machine? A believable explanation of why one wasn’t really in Cambodia in December of 1968? The mind boggles.

What could you accomplish with a room full of hyperactive monkeys? Me, I’m writing this blog.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
