There are a lot of reasons why I like listening to C&W.
- Lyrics often give thanks to God.
- Lyrics often support our troops and our country.
- Lyrics often champion doing what’s right over what you want.
- Lyrics express all types of love in a positive way.
- I can actually hear and understand the lyrics.
- I can two-step and polka to it
So why do people talk down on C&W music? If they listen to it, they apologize (i.e. “I don’t usually care for C&W, but I thought this song about patriotism was good…”). They don’t do that for, say, rap music (“I don’t usually listen to rap music, but I thought this song about shooting cops was well done.”)
Ok, so the music isn’t the most challenging, but a lot of the old twangy stuff is long gone (even though as I get older, I appreciate the old twangy stuff more). The new C&W is almost rock.
I’m going to start a C&W Support Club. “Hi, my name is Michael, and I listen to Country Music. My favorite artist is George Strait.” Feel free to sign up below.

Howdy, My name is Stephen and I listen to both kinds of music, country and western. No real favorite artist but I’m glad LeAnn Rimes came back to were she started.
