Chasing the Wind

News. Faith. Nonsense.

Monday Morning

My brain is still stuffed with sand. I feel awake early in the morning, but I know I’m not. It becomes abundantly clear to me later if I reread my early morning posts. i’m repetitive, I make spelling misakes, I leave out entire words. An hour later, I’ll think, “man, there’s something not quite right with me.” Of course, the first thing I do everymorning is answer email from my client and my vendor, both of whom are overseas and have a 6 hour head start on me. I like to make my most important mistakes early and get them out of the way, freeing up time to make piddly mistakes later

It was a great weekend. Greek food with some friends on Friday night at Niko Niko’s on Montrose; I’m still being good on my diet, I hope, and had the grilled chicken kabob and village salad. I sure wanted those frech fries though.

Saturday went to see a friend’s daughter play volleyball (for privacy reason, I won’t mention the friend’s name is Sean because he’ll read this), then an afternoon movie at the downtown Angelika. Unusual movie called “The Page Turner.” I think it was supposed to be abouve subtle revenge, but from a Christian perspective, the revenge would have failed if the victims had simply behaved themselves. I wasn’t impressed.

Dinner and dancing plans fell through at the last moment, so the sweet wife & I went to Pappasito’s for fajitas, completely forgetting it was Cinco de Mayo. We felt like we crashed a party, but the fajitas were good and half price, which is to say, what the old price used to be before they doubled all their prices.

Sunday was church and fellowship and we lingered over lunch until 2:30 with our bible class, then went to the pool for a couple of hours and I read “90 Minutes in Heaven” in about 3 hours. The sweet wife thinks I only read every other page. Then back to church for a lesson on Caiaphas and the Jewish legal system and taught by a lawyer, so it was very informative.

Back home, the old movie “Twister” was on HBO so we cuddled on the sofa and watched some of nature’s fury as seen by Hollywood. I saw I received an email from Margaret Feingold, the author of “The Organic God” that I wrote about last week, but my computer locked up again. I think it’s sick. Since it was late and it takes so long to reboot, I have something I can look forward to reading and replying to when i get hom.

What’ll be funny to me is reading this post in about 3 hours and see if I made any mistakes. 🙂

  1. Mistakes I can see now: Capitalization is a serious problem. I misspelled “mistake.” Punctuation. The use of an unknown word “abouve.” Other than that, it could have been worse. 🙂

  3. I almost have enough points now to turn them in for a prize. Not a big prize, mind you. A piddly one.

About Me

Michael, a sinner saved by grace, sharing what the good Lord has shared with me.

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.

Got questions? I’m not surprised. If you have any questions about Chasing the Wind, you can email me at chasingthewind@outlook.com.
