“I have repeatedly defended President Bush against the left on Iraq, even though I think he should have waited until the U.N. inspections were over,” Clinton said in a Time magazine interview that will hit newsstands Monday, a day before the publication of his book “My Life.”
Clinton, who was interviewed Thursday, said he did not believe that Bush went to war in Iraq over oil or for imperialist reasons but out of a genuine belief that large quantities of weapons of mass destruction remained unaccounted for.
CNN reports this will appear in a Time Magazine article today. First things first – I don’t compliment Clinton often, but he had the decency not to flip-flop on this issue. He’s repeatedly said during his own administration that Iraq was a danger.
On the other hand, he’s clearly not speaking Kerry’s language. Is Clinton trying to sabotage Kerry’s campaign? I was going to compliment Clinton on not playing politics with this issue, but the more I think about it, the more I think he *is* playing politics with this issue. The cynic in me sees a defeated Kerry would help Hillary’s run for President in 2008.

Before I read your comment on Hillary, I was already wording my response for his support of Bush. Clinton has much more to gain if Bush wins.

Heh. A vote for Bush is a vote for Bush. I’m sure I’ll find somebody besides Hillary to vote for in 2008.
On the other hand, a vote for Kerry is a vote *against* Hillary. What are *you* gonna do?
