I’m off to the eye doc this morning to see if I’m a candidate for Lasik. I’m doing my research; I think there’s a Sci-Fi movie where they laser somebody’s eyes out as a form of torture. I’m hoping my appointment goes better than that.
Here are my questions so far:
- Do you use “custom” Lasik using wavefront technology to improve contrast?
- Do you use “intralase” to cut the corneal flap with a laser instead of a blade?
- How much does this cost?
- What is included?
- What is not included?
- What will I have to pay for if complications occur or enhancement surgery becomes necessary?
- How much do prescription medications (such as anti-inflammatories or painkillers) cost?
- If I require temporary contact lenses or glasses after the procedure, how much will they cost?
- How many follow-up visits will I need to make, and at what cost?
- Is there a procedure for flushing the eye, is there any concern about protein deposits?
- Long term, does the cornea thin with age?
- Since Lasik also thins the cornea, is there any future technology on the horizon that would not be available to me because of thinner corneas?
- Is a monovision application necessary? Will I experience a loss of depth perception?
