I confess: working out bores me. I need something to do with my brain. The local Bally’s has some music playing too low to hear and some tv’s that are only visible from a few ellipticals.
I planned on buying an iPod Mini, but changed my mind at the last minute and bought an iRiver H10. It’s smaller, almost as cool looking, not as easy to use… but it adds the ability to play .wav and .mp3 files, display photos, and includes an FM radio.
My only gripe is that I’ve had to refer to the book a couple of times. I suspect that’s more of a reflection of my age, though; I have to do the same with cell phones, too. I’ve been able to record an FM radio show, but haven’t figured yet how to use the built-in timer to do it automatically. More frustrating, when I’m done recording, I don’t know where the recording went – I can’t play it back. And though I’ve been able to rate the songs, I’d love to be able to sort by rating and delete the lowest rated mp3s and make room for more, but I haven’t figured out how to delete them without plugging it back into the PC.
Overall, though, I’m pretty happy with the size and the screen and the audio quality. And my workouts seem to go by faster now. 🙂

I like my H10, for your recordings go to ,under artist, Recorded section. Although they will be a code not a name or something it is hard to know what recording is which.

Any idea if you can delete a song from the H10? Or do you have to do it through Windows?

Still happy with it? Looking for birthday ideas for the hubby. 💡

I was mostly happy with it. I had some troubles with it pausing after a song, requiring me to manually hit the “next song” button. That was a hassle while exercising though. And then that one time it came on by itself and froze, and the off button wouldn’t work. I had to let the battery run down.
Overall I liked the iPod better, but I couldn’t get iTunes to recognize the iPod reliably, so I took that back.
I’ve ordered a Palm LifeDrive (WiFi, Bluetooth, 4 gig, mp3, photos, and Palm all in one).
