After turning in the possessed iRiver H10, I exchanged it for the iPod Photo 30. I don’t think the possession factor is any less.
Installation was a piece of cake, but the iPod isn’t always shown as “mounted” which is when the software is transferring music to the iPod. The iPod continually cycles between “Do not disconnect” and “Ok to disconnect.” It’s connected enough, though, to pick up 1/2 of my music library. It’s just not consistent.
Googling around, I find a bazillion people with this problem, trying to mount an iPod under Windows. I tried toggling my USB ports so they don’t power off end devices; the only other solution I’ve found so far is to go buy a Firewire port. The Apple support site is useless, telling me that perhaps I should reinstall Windows.
I’m thinking about returning it instead.

I love – yes LOVE – my Creative Nomad Jukebox. 😀 30GB of pure musical enjoyment. No hassles. Less money. Still way cool. 😎

I remember you posting about it some time ago, Miss Vox, but the search function appears munged on your website. 😦
Do you have a direct link?
*googles* If you were buying one today, would you consider the Creative Zen Touch instead?

Yeah – I munged the search function up because the comment spammers seem to use it in their nefarious pursuits – a search for “.*” always seems to precede a major dump of comment and/or trackback spam (and tie up my database, keeping me from getting in to stop the assault). Since I disabled it, I only get hit with onsies and twosies – need to do something about the box, though.
Here is the direct link – I’ve been a bad girl
I don’t think I would go for the Zen Touch, but just because of the extra cost – I am far too undercompensated in my job 😉 (and just plain cheap)

Got iPod for christmas of 2004, within 2 months it was acting up skipping songs, heating up etc. The technical support told me I’d have to mail it in, I did and got back a refurbished one just 5 weeks ago and this one is already acting up, they are telling me I need to mail it in again!! iPods SUCK!! They’re unreliable, inconsistant, and freakin’ expensive!
