I'm Here

I know posts have been sparse lately, had a lot on my plate. Broken hot water heater pipes, sheet rock replacement, a mini-vacation to New Orleans, and preparing to teach Sunday. Hey, sometimes real life beckons, but keep our eyes on eternal life. I hope I’m dealing with real life in a way that honors God.

Stuff I wished I posted about this week – Pavarotti’s death, weird spam, annoying radio commercials that repeat their phone number 4 times in a single commercial, the devastation in New Orleans… instead, I posted a picture of “SHCOOL” misspelled on a crosswalk. I didn’t even add words.

Ah well, the weekend approaches. I’ll be studying tomorrow and you can expect a long post early next week on how to resist temptation. I hope you’re tempted to read it.

    Michael, you owe no one an apology or explanation for sparse posts. 🙂 One thing I’ve pledged to do is never apologize to my readers for not posting, though it’s extremely tempting, and nearly every blogger does it. Like you said, “real life beckons,” and that’s where we need to be first.

    Okay, I hate posting anything that sounds like motherly advice, because first of all, I’m way too young, and second, I can come across as a snotty know-it-all. But for what it’s worth, I trust you don’t think those things. I love this blog, and I also know that infrequent posting just means you’re out living.

    Thanks for the encouragement, Jennifer. In reality, some days I just don’t feel like writing stuff, and when you’re living out of the spare bathroom because the master bedroom and bath are under “emergency hot water heater deconstruction,” well… I’m just glad you’re understanding.

    I know, I know, you didn’t actually apologize. Just explained. It was a thought that was in my head previously after reading 100 blogs (not really) with no-post apologies and I got to unload it here since the explanation was just enough to push me there. And some other blogger might not appreciate my comment. 🙂

Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes, said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

If you’re not living for the glory of God, then what you’re doing is meaningless, no matter what it is. Living for God gives life meaning, and enjoying a “chasing after the wind” is a gift from God. I’m doing what I can to enjoy this gift daily.
